Bandaging

The leg is then wrapped with a cohesive bandage from the foot to the elbow
and around the elbow to stop the splint from slipping down then back down to
the foot and we usually finish the bandage underneath the leg so the dog has
less chance of chewing it off. This bandage should be firm but not too
tight,
the leg will swell and anti inflamitories should be given to control the
swelling
the temperature of the foot should be checked if the foot is swollen and if
considerably colder than the other foot the bandage may have to be eased
off.
with the foot outside of the splint it allows better air flow and
circulation
of the blood to the break and promotes healing of the break
